Archving: Experience with BSNL broadband

Finally the bsnl service providers acted on my complaints, after numerous phone calls and visits to the bsnl office.

Unfortunately only after the technician setup an internet connection did I notice that the router provided by the bsnl service , of an inconspicuous manufacturer (with no manual) , was put into a setting that did not allow more than one computer to connect to the internet at a time.

So after painfully browsing user forums and manuals of other routers a setting finally worked

So here is a documentation of the settings of the bsnl modem + router, for my future reference :

Name: BSNL Type 2 ADSL 2+ CPE/IAD
Supplier: Syrma Technology Pvt. Ltd.
Manufacturer: Fujian Star-net Communication Co., Ltd.
Model Name: Type – II Modem
Model No: AR800V v3.0

internal lan ip : 192.168.1.1 (factory settings)

The VPI/VCI are provided by the ISP and one should use the one presetted, the only change I did was to change the protocol to pppoe.

Here are the screen shots and settings summary
